A Foley Balloon Catheter is a flexible, sterile urinary catheter designed for continuous bladder drainage. It is inserted into the bladder through the urethra, where a small balloon at the tip is inflated with sterile water to hold the catheter securely in place. Made from biocompatible materials such as latex or silicone, Foley catheters are available in different sizes and types to suit adult and pediatric patients. They are widely used in hospitals for post-surgical care, urinary retention, or when accurate urine output measurement is required. The smooth surface and rounded tip provide patient comfort, while the drainage system ensures effective and hygienic urine management. Foley catheters typically have two channels one for drainage and one for inflating the balloon.
